Koan Dodecahedron Light

Birch Ply, Stain, hardware, Light - +/- 45cm diameter

A Koan is a paradoxical anecdote or riddle, used in certain Zen Buddhist practices, to demonstrate the inadequacy of logical reasoning and to provoke enlightenment.

In the case of this dodecahedron, the patterns seem to flow into each other, yet when looked at with reasoning never actually merge. It is a conundrum where the observer indeed chooses what they see.

A light inside casts hypnotizing sharp shadows when using a RGB light bulb. Alternatively, when a warm white bulb is used, the shadows are much softer and the light emanates a sense of letting go, like a blanket covering the space surrounding.

The Koan Light is made from baltic birch stained on one side and sanded for a soft natural look on the other.

The Koan Dodecahedron light comes in both natural and black, depending on how you assemble it. It ships flat and all you need for assembly is a Philips screwdriver, 30 to 60minutes and some good music.
